Sparsh Behavioural Lab

Sparsh Behavioural Lab (SBL) is India’s first dedicated Behavioural Insights Unit (BIU) focused on death & end-of-life care. Using evidence-based methods, we tackle deep-seated stigmas, caregiver burnout, and communication challenges—not just to reimagine care, but to reshape how Indian society thinks about death itself.

This first-of-its-kind lab will serve as a unique space where care, compassion and human behaviour converge. Through evidence-based research, podcasts, behavioural mapping and multidisciplinary collaborations, the Lab seeks to deepen our understanding of how individuals, families, and systems navigate end-of-life planning, end-of-life care, terminal illness and loss of loved ones .

The Problem

End-of-life care in India is at a crossroads. With one of the largest populations of people living with serious illness and less than 4% accessing palliative care (Lancet, 2020), the need for change is urgent. Cultural taboos, systemic gaps, and behavioural barriers keep conversations about death in the shadows.

Our Pillars

Why this matters?
We believe true change requires both:
✔️ Systems transformation – in policies, infrastructure, and training.
✔️ Mindset shifts – in how individuals, families, and healthcare systems perceive death.
Together, we can create a future where individuals face the end of life with clarity, dignity, and compassion.
Join the movement!
We invite NGOs, researchers, and academic institutions to collaborate with us in building a compassionate ecosystem for end-of-life care.
